Tips for Using the IT Support Catalog

The IT Support Catalog can be used to quickly and easily request everything from a new state computer or loaner laptop to getting help with the wireless network. The service catalog is available to all students, faculty, and staff on campus, and contains all available IT services. The Knowledge Base side of the IT Catalog contains hundreds of how-to articles for people to follow to resolve many common issues.

Because there are so many options available in the service catalog and Knowledge Base, here are a few tips to help make the IT Catalog more useful and easy to use.

Use the Search Box

Rather than poke around trying to find the exact service or article you need, try using the search box in the upper right-hand corner of the page. Try entering keywords that match what you're looking for, like "new computer" or "wireless help".

More tips:

  1. You may see more services if you log into the service catalog first. Some services are only available to certain groups and are only visible if you are logged in.
  2. The search box in the upper right searches both the service catalog as well as the Knowledge Base. To search for only services (or only Knowledge Base), click the globe icon next to the search bar and choose what you are wanting to search through.
