Sharing Canvas Content with Other Instructors

There are several ways to share your Canvas content with another instructor. This article provides an overview of the methods based on your specific needs.

Sharing a specific piece of content (module, quiz, etc.)

• Consider using Canvas' Send To feature. It is quick and easy. 

Sharing an entire course with someone 

• If you are collaborating with another instructor, and want to build or edit the course together, it may be best to:

  1. Create a Canvas sandbox (prep) course  or identify an existing sandbox course.

  2. Add the other instructor to the sandbox course and

  3. Agree on a process for adding content. This may entail: 

     • Creating and organizing modules from scratch; or 

     • Copying content from another Canvas course into the sandbox course. 

• Another way to share an entire course with someone that is fairly quick, is to export and share your course to Canvas Commons.

  • Be sure to give permissions to those at CSU Chico.

  • Then the other instructor can import from Canvas Commons to their own course.

  • You can always remove your course from Commons when complete.
