Learning how to share your screen can significantly enhance your virtual meetings or classes on Zoom. Prerequisites
- A Chico State Zoom account.
- Familiarity with basic Zoom functions.
- Zoom Desktop Client installed on your computer.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Sharing Your Screen
- Ensure screen sharing is enabled in your Zoom account settings or through the Security button if you are the meeting host.
- Select Share Screen on the Zoom taskbar.
- Choose the screen or application you wish to share. For comprehensive sharing, select your entire screen. Tip: Close any applications with sensitive information before sharing.
- Select Share Screen again to begin sharing.
- If you want participants to hear sound from your computer, ensure Share Computer Sound is selected in the bottom-left of the share window.

Moving the Zoom Taskbar
Once screen sharing begins, the Zoom taskbar moves to the top of your primary display.
- To reposition the taskbar to the bottom, select the Dock to Bottom arrow.
Troubleshooting
- If screen sharing does not work, check if the host has enabled it for participants.
- Should you encounter issues with annotating, ensure you have the correct permissions from the host.
- For any sound sharing problems, verify the Share Computer Sound option is selected.
