Microsoft Office 365 Email Setup for iPhones & iPads

Whether you are setting up Microsoft Office 365 email for the first time or reconfiguring after a password reset, the following instructions will assist you with Microsoft Office 365 email accounts on iPhones and iPads. 

Using the native Mail app:

Adding your Account

  1. Start by opening your Settings, then find the "Mail" option. Under "Mail" choose "Accounts"
  2. On the menu, you should see any connected accounts. If your Microsoft Office 365 email is not displayed, choose "Add Account"; If your Microsoft Office 365 email account is listed, see "Removing Exchange Account" below.
  3. Choose "Microsoft Exchange" from the account types listed
  4. In the pop-up window, type in your Chico State email: username@csuchico.edu. In the description box, you can change the display name of the account. "Exchange" is the default, but you can change it to "Work Email", "Chico Email" etc. 
  5. The next screen will show you two options. Make sure to choose "Sign In"
  6. The page redirects to Chico log-in page. Enter your Chico State password, then hit "Next".
  7. You will be prompted by Duo to Approve the sign-in. Approve then return to the account setup.
  8. On the next screen, hit "Save"

Removing your Account

If you need to remove your email from your iPhone or iPad, or if you need to update your password after a password reset, use the following instructions:

  1. Start by opening your Settings, then find the "Mail" option. Under "Mail" choose "Accounts"
  2. On the menu, you should see any connected accounts. Select your Microsoft Office 365 email account. 
  3. At the bottom of the screen, click "Delete Account", and then "Delete from My iPhone"
  4. After removing the account, you will need to re-add it using the information in the Adding 

In the Outlook App:

  1. Make sure you have installed the Outlook app from the App Store. Once installed, open the app. You should be immediately prompted to Add an Account. First, enter your email address, which will be [username]@csuchico.edu.
  2. The next screen will prompt for your password, then ask you to approve the sign-in using Duo. 
  3. Once you approve the log-in, the app will take a few minutes to load any existing emails into the app.
