Due to a change in policy, Chico State student users will no longer keep their accounts after fully separating from the university.
What accounts does this affect?
This affects former students' access to Chico State accounts. This includes Microsoft email, Canvas, and Google.
What does this mean for students?
Student accounts are disabled once students have not been actively enrolled for more than two years. Three years after users are no longer actively enrolled, the accounts are fully deleted. This assumes that students have no other active affiliation with the university that would entitle them to retain this service.
Why was there a policy change?
We were required to make this policy change due to Microsoft licensing requirements and Google education document storage space requirements. The timing for other account de-provisioning was synced to reduce confusion.
