To fix the "Cookies are blocked or not supported by your browser" error, follow the steps below based on your browser to enable third-party cookies for Canvas and Zoom.

Google Chrome

To enable third-party cookies in Google Chrome:

  6. Close the settings tab and refresh your Canvas page.

Now, you should be able to launch Zoom from Canvas without encountering the error.

Mozilla Firefox

To enable third-party cookies in Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Open Firefox and select the three-line menu in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Settings (or Options on some versions).
  3. Navigate to the Privacy & Security panel.
  4. Under the Enhanced Tracking Protection section, select Custom.
  5. Ensure the Cookies dropdown is set to "Cross-site tracking cookies" or "All third-party cookies" are allowed.
  6. Alternatively, scroll to the Exceptions section and add:
  7. Save your changes and refresh your Canvas page.

Now, you should be able to launch Zoom from Canvas without encountering the error.

Microsoft Edge

To enable third-party cookies in Microsoft Edge:

  1. Open Edge and select the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. In the left-hand menu, choose Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data.
  4. Under "Allow", select Add.
  5. Add the following sites:
    • [*.]csuchico.edu
    • [*.]zoom.us
  6. Ensure that "Including third-party cookies on this site" is checked for both entries.
  7. Close the settings tab and refresh your Canvas page.

Now, you should be able to launch Zoom from Canvas without encountering the error.

Safari

To enable third-party cookies in Safari:

  1. Open Safari and go to Safari > Preferences from the top menu.
  2. Select the Privacy tab.
  3. Uncheck the box next to Prevent cross-site tracking.
  4. Close the preferences window and refresh your Canvas page.

Now, you should be able to launch Zoom from Canvas without encountering the error.

Root Cause

When third-party cookies are disabled, your browser prevents applications like Zoom from accessing the necessary cookies to authenticate through Canvas. This is a browser privacy setting designed to block cross-site tracking but can unintentionally interfere with services like Canvas and Zoom.
