When using the Zoom mobile app, it’s essential to sign in with your Chico State credentials to ensure you have access to all the necessary features like breakout rooms. This article explains how to properly sign in with Single Sign-On (SSO) using the Chico State domain and how to join a Zoom meeting from your mobile device.
Prerequisites
- Zoom mobile app installed on your smartphone or tablet.
- Access to your Chico State Portal ID and password.
- Zoom Meeting ID and passcode.
Step-by-Step Instructions
To sign in to the Zoom mobile app and join a meeting, do the following:
Sign in to the Zoom mobile app
- Open the Zoom mobile app on your device.
- Select Sign In from the main screen.
- Do not enter your email address. Instead, select Single Sign-On (SSO) from the sign-in options at the bottom.
- Enter csuchico as the domain. It should appear as csuchico.zoom.us.
- Enter your Chico State Portal ID and password to complete the login.
Locate the numeric meeting passcode
If you're joining from your mobile device, you'll need to have the passcode ready. Here's how to locate it:
- If the meeting invite was sent by email, select the meeting link from the email to join directly. The passcode will be encrypted in the link.
- If the Zoom meeting is for a Canvas course, you can either ask your instructor for the passcode or check if it is posted in Canvas.
Join the Zoom meeting
- Open the Zoom app and confirm you're signed in.
- Select Join Meeting from the home screen.
- Enter the Zoom Meeting ID provided by your instructor or meeting host.
- Select Join.
- If prompted, enter the passcode for the meeting.
Troubleshooting
- If you don’t sign in using Single Sign-On (SSO), you might still be able to join the meeting, but features like breakout rooms may not work properly.
- Ensure that the Zoom mobile app is up-to-date, as older versions may not support all Chico State Zoom features.
