Use the Phish Alert Button to report suspicious emails whenever possible. The Phish Alert Button is only available in the Outlook desktop app, the Outlook mobile app, and at Outlook.com.
If the button is not available, click Request Service on this page and include the email content and sender information.

These messages often:
- Appear to come from a trusted source (such as Chico State, your bank, or a known company)
- Ask you to verify account information
- Include links to fake but realistic-looking websites
- Create urgency or fear (for example, account deletion warnings)
Protect Your Chico State Account
If you believe your account may be compromised due to a phishing email, please change your password immediately and call IT Support Services at 530-898-4357.
Follow these practices to keep your account secure:
- Report suspicious emails using the Phish Alert Button.
- Never approve unrequested Duo prompts, and never share your Duo passcode.
- Never share passwords, ID numbers, or personal information through email or online forms.
- Review emails carefully for warning signs, such as:
- Spelling or grammar errors
- Unusual sender addresses or signatures
- Urgent or threatening language
- Requests for sensitive information
