Requesting Purchased Software

Some software applications in the Application Catalog are not covered under any campus software licensing agreement, and require the purchase of a license. Some common applications are Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Project. These applications require proof of license purchase, and therefore cannot simply be installed from the Catalog. You can request the software, then ITSS will contact you to get your license information. Once this is confirmed, your request will be approved, and the software will be available to install

 

Request Software

Highlight the software you would like, then click REQUEST.

Please fill out the request approval with your name and phone number so we can easily reach you. Click SUBMIT when you're done filling this out.

You will see a confirmation that your request was submitted. ITSS will be notified of your pending request and will contact you. If you don't hear from ITSS within one business day, please contact us at x4357 or email itss@csuchico.edu.

Installing the Software

Once your request is approved, you will see a notification in your system tray:

Click the Software Center icon in your system tray.

Click View Approved Application Requests.

You will see an "application ready to install" window. There are 3 options you can choose from:

  • Install software now. This will begin the installation immediately.
  • Automatically install outside business hours. By default, SCCM defines business hours as 5am-10pm. Only use this option if you plan to leave your computer on overnight.
  • Do not install software. If you decide you don't want to install the software, choose this.

You most likely will want to install now, click OK when you're ready.

"OK" Your request application was approved and is available to install.

You will see a message that your software is being downloaded and installed.

If you click this message, you can watch the progress in the Software Center:

When it's done, it will let you know it's complete.
