Uploading a local recording from Zoom to Kaltura can be necessary when a recording intended for the cloud is saved locally. This guide will walk you through the process of transferring your Zoom session recordings to Kaltura, ensuring they are accessible for wider sharing or archival purposes.
Prerequisites
- Access to the computer where the Zoom recording was originally made.
- A stable internet connection to upload large files.
Step-by-Step Instructions
To upload your local Zoom recording to Kaltura, do the following:
- On the computer used for the recording, visit your local recordings page on Zoom.
- Select Open next to the recording you wish to upload. This action will open a file explorer to the folder containing your video.
- Navigate to Kaltura, select Add New, then choose Media Upload.
- Drag the video file from the file explorer to the upload area in Kaltura. Be sure to upload the file starting with "video" to ensure you're transferring the video file and not just audio.
Troubleshooting
- If you are unable to access the local recording, ensure you are on the same computer as you were when the recording was created. Likewise, ensure the file hasn't been deleted. You can also check the recordings folder directly:
- Windows: Open File Explorer and go to %UserProfile%\Documents\Zoom
- Mac: Open Finder and go to /Users/[Your Username]/Documents/Zoom
- If you encounter issues during the upload process, ensure you are connected to a stable internet connection. Verify that you are uploading the correct video file, particularly if multiple files are in the same folder.
