Kaltura Media Analytics offers valuable insights into how your video content is being engaged with in your Canvas courses and beyond. By accessing analytics, you can view statistics such as Minutes Viewed, Plays, Unique Viewers, Completion Rate, and more. This guide will walk you through the steps to view these analytics for videos deployed in Canvas, helping educators and content creators understand viewer engagement and optimize their content delivery.

Prerequisites

  • A published video uploaded to Kaltura.

Step-by-Step Instructions

You can view detailed analytics, including player impressions, authenticated views, and engagement. To access analytics for Kaltura media, do the following:

  1. Navigate to My Media from the Canvas Global Navigation menu, or directly through CSU Chico Media.
  2. In your media library, locate the video for which you want to view analytics. Look for the graph icon to the right of the video preview and select it to access the analytics page.

  3. From the Analytics page, you can:
    • Export raw data; filter by country, domain, and page; and change the date range [1].
    • View high-level stats for the selected filters [2].
    • View which parts of the video are most watched [3].
    • See player impressions, plays, unique viewers, and more by date [4].

Troubleshooting

  • Analytics not loading: Ensure your internet connection is stable and try refreshing the page. If the problem persists, clear your browser cache and try again.
  • Analytics doesn't match video details page: Ensure you have the correct filters selected. By default, Kaltura only shows the last 30 days of data.
