Collect Audience Responses in Poll Everywhere

Poll Everywhere allows you to control when your audience can participate in your activities. When you activate an activity, it becomes available for responses through your personal Poll Everywhere page and, if enabled, text messaging. This gives you control over the timing of audience participation during presentations or meetings.

A single presenter can only have one active activity at a time. This ensures presenters have control over which activity is open for responses. However, responses can still be submitted through direct response links regardless of activation status.

Prerequisites

Before activating activities, ensure you have:

  • Access to your Poll Everywhere Presenter account at https://www.polleverywhere.com/
  • At least one activity created in your account
  • Basic familiarity with the Poll Everywhere interface

Step-by-Step Instructions

To activate Poll Everywhere activities, you can use one of two methods depending on your presentation needs.

Method 1: Activate While Presenting

To activate an activity during a live presentation, do the following:

  1. Navigate to the activity you want to present in Poll Everywhere
  2. Select Present to display the activity in full-screen mode
  3. Your activity is now automatically activated and ready for audience responses

To stop accepting responses, select Exit from the presentation view or press the Escape key. This will deactivate the activity.

Method 2: Activate Without Presenting

To activate an activity for background collection without presenting, do the following:

  1. Navigate to your My Activities page
  2. Locate the activity you want to activate
  3. Select the Activate button next to the activity title
  4. The button will turn green, indicating the activity is now accepting responses

To deactivate the activity, select the Activate button again. The green indicator will disappear, showing the activity is no longer accepting responses.

Important: You can only have one activity accepting responses at a time. Activating a new activity will automatically deactivate any previously active activity.

Troubleshooting

My activity isn't accepting responses

  • Check that your activity is activated by looking for the green Activate button on your My Activities page
  • Verify participants are using your correct Poll Everywhere response page

Can I have multiple activities active simultaneously?

  • No, Poll Everywhere only allows one active activity per account at a time

Can people still respond to inactive activities?

  • Yes, participants can still respond using direct activity links even when activities aren't activated through your main response page
