Prepare McGraw-Hill and Canvas

  • You have an adopted McGraw-Hill title and access to its Connect digital resources.
  • You have a course set up in McGraw-Hill Connect with assignments created.
  • You have a Chico State Canvas course shell.
  • You have instructor-level access in both McGraw-Hill and Canvas.

Deploy Assignments Using the Course Menu

Use this method if you want a quick way to access your Connect section, manage pairing, and deploy assignments.

Note: If your course uses module requirements or prerequisites, this method may allow students to bypass intended module progression.

  1. In Canvas, open your course and select Settings.
  2. Select Navigation.
  3. Locate McGraw-Hill Connect.
  4. Drag it into the visible navigation list.
  5. Select Save.
  6. From the course menu, select McGraw-Hill Connect.
  7. If needed, complete the pairing process using McGraw-Hill’s pairing guide.
  8. Select “go to section homepage” and deploy assignments.

After deployment:

  • Review where assignments appear in Canvas
  • Move them into the appropriate module if needed
  • Place assignments into the correct assignment group if using grading categories

Deploy Assignments in a Canvas Module

Use this method if you want assignments to appear in a specific module location.

  1. In Canvas, open your course and select Modules.
  2. Locate the module where you want the assignment.
  3. Open the module options menu and select McGraw-Hill Connect LTIA.
  4. Select Go to My Connect Section.
  5. In Connect, open Assignments.
  6. Select the assignments you want to deploy.
  7. Open the actions menu and select Deploy to Canvas.
  8. Complete the prompts.
  9. Return to Canvas and confirm placement.
  10. Make sure both the module and assignments are published.

After deployment:

  • Review the Assignments page
  • Place each assignment in the correct assignment group if needed

Troubleshoot McGraw-Hill in Canvas

If McGraw-Hill does not open, confirm your Connect section is paired with the correct Canvas course.

If assignments do not appear after deployment:

  • Refresh Canvas
  • Check both the module and the Assignments page
