You can embed YouTube videos directly within any Canvas feature that uses the Rich Content Editor, such as assignments, pages, and discussions. This guide will show you how to embed a YouTube video using the Rich Content Editor.
Prerequisites
- You must have a YouTube video link or know the topic of the video you wish to embed.
- You need editing permissions within the Canvas course or the specific content area (assignment, page, discussion, etc.).
Step-by-Step Instructions
To embed a YouTube video using the Canvas Rich Content Editor, do the following:
- Open the Rich Content Editor in the area where you want to embed the video (e.g., while creating or editing an assignment, page, or discussion).
- Select the Apps icon [1], then select YouTube [2].
- If YouTube is not visible, select View All first, then select YouTube from the list.
- When prompted, enter the YouTube video link into the search bar, or search for a video by topic. Select Embed when you find the correct video.
- Once the video appears in the Rich Content Editor, select Submit or Save to finalize the changes.
Now your YouTube video is embedded within the content editor, making it viewable directly within the assignment, page, or discussion.
