Quick Links: | Environment | Solution | Root Cause |

When attempting to sign in to Google using an @mail.csuchico.edu email account, users receive an error message stating that the account does not exist. This issue affects users who are trying to log in with an outdated email domain that is no longer supported.

Google sign in page. An @mail.csuchico.edu email is entered into the Email field. Google displays an error saying, "Couldn't find your Google Account"

Environment

  • Chico State Google accounts
  • @mail.csuchico.edu email addresses
  • Google Sign-In

Solution

To fix this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to Google using your @csuchico.edu email address instead of the @mail.csuchico.edu email address.
  2. Use the same password associated with your @mail.csuchico.edu account.

Now, your Google account will recognize the updated email domain and allow you to sign in successfully.

Root Cause

When Chico State updated its Google account domains on August 12, 2024, the @mail.csuchico.edu domain was retired from use in Google. Users must now use their @csuchico.edu email address to log in.
