Quick Links: | Teams | Outlook | Office |

Copilot for m365 has certain prerequisites before it can be leveraged on a campus standard image. In order for Copilot for m365 to work you must first be assigned a license.  If you have a license this article will guide you through enabling it in various m365 products.

Once the license is assigned, if you meet the requirements and version needed, Copilot for M365 should automatically show up in your applications.

Teams

Copilot for m365 automatically works in MS Teams as deployed by the campus image.

To enable Copilot in Teams to reference meeting content after the meeting has ended, transcription or meeting recording must be enabled. When you are assigned a copilot license, the teams policy should be automatically assigned, but can take up to 24 hours to take effect.  During the meeting you need to Select "Start Transcript" from the Record and Transcribe menu.  This option only is available if the meeting organizer is licensed for copilot.

NOTE: If you have multiple e-mail accounts managed by outlook, you will need to set your copilot licensed business account to be the primary account.  This can be done in "Settings -> Accounts -> Email Accounts" by clicking the Manage button next to your @csuchico.edu account, and then "Set as primary account"

Office

Copilot for m365 will not work in Office as deployed in the campus image.  Several registry changes need to be made before Copilot for m365 will work:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\office\16.0\common\officeupdate
officemgmtcom '0'
enableautomaticupdates '1'
hideenabledisableupdates '0'

Changes to these registry keys require local admin access to your PC as well as a level of technical expertise in registry editing.  Otherwise it is recommended you open a support request with ITSS.

Once these settings are deployed, you will need to click "Update Now" from an office application.  This setting is typically found in the File->About Menu.  If you see a "Switch License" Button, it is recommended you click that once and ensure office is connected to your @csuchico.edu addrress.

Alternatively you can click the Update License if that option is visible:
