PeopleSoft Error: "Invalid Portal Name"

Error Information

Some users may encounter the following error when attempting to log into PeopleSoft or Student Center: "Invalid portal name EMPLOYEE in request." 
Error message: Invalid portal name
 

This error could occur for various reasons. Most commonly, it occurs when attempting to access multiple PeopleSoft instances in the same browser. Simultaneous logins to multiple PeopleSoft instances are not supported at this time. To avoid this issue, sign out before switching instances.

Fixing the Error

You can try a couple of troubleshooting steps to determine if this is a cache issue or a profile problem.

  1. Check the Chico State Status Dashboard to ensure there is not a current outage.
  2. Try closing the tab, log into the Chico State Portal, and reopen the tab.
    • This could determine if there was an issue with Single Sign-On (SSO).
  3. Open the page in an Incognito or Private window.
  4. If neither of the above works, you may not have the correct permissions in PeopleSoft.
