Key Features of Accommodate HQ
Accommodate HQ is a Canvas integration that allows instructors to manage student accommodations from a centralized location. Instead of modifying individual assignments, quizzes, discussions, and surveys one at a time, instructors can apply accommodations across a course more efficiently.
The following video provides an overview of Accommodate HQ and its capabilities within Canvas.
Accommodate HQ supports the following accommodation options:
- Manage accommodations across assignments, quizzes, discussions, and surveys from a centralized location.
- Provide additional quiz time and extra attempts for students who require them.
- Extend due dates and availability dates for assignments and course activities.
- Remove deadlines when additional flexibility is needed.
- Create individualized accommodations for specific students or groups.
Manage Student Accommodations in Canvas

Known Limitations and Conflicts
Accommodations Are Not Automatically Applied to New Assignments
Accommodate HQ only applies accommodations to assignments and quizzes that exist when accommodations are configured. If new assignments or quizzes are created later, accommodations must be manually applied again.
For additional information, see Why don't students have their extra time on some quizzes?.
Accommodate HQ and Canvas Moderate Quiz Settings Can Conflict
Accommodate HQ uses Canvas's Moderate Quiz functionality to manage quiz accommodations. If accommodations are modified in both systems, the most recently updated setting takes precedence.
To reduce the likelihood of conflicts, use a single tool to manage accommodations whenever possible.
