Updating Box Drive for Windows Users

Box Drive will check for an update and automatically update  during each system startup.   If you want to update manually, follow these directions.  

 

Windows 10 users will see the following message if there is an update available.

             

To update, follow these steps:

Step 1.) Close out of any files you have open via Box Drive.   

             Locate the Box icon. It is usually located in the hidden icons tray near the date/time.   Hover over the icon and make sure it says "Box Drive" and NOT "Box Edit".

                     

Step 2.) Right click the Box icon to display a side menu then click the "Update" option.  

                              

i. A new window will now display.

Step 3.) Ensure that you have saved and closed any files that are associated with your Box account. Select the "Update Box Drive" option in the new window. 

                             

i. Box Drive will now begin to update. This does not take very long but the process may not not relaunch Box Drive when complete.   You will not see a progress bar. 

a.) For Windows 10 users the following message will display if the update was successful.

                             

Step 4.) If Box drive does not automatically launch after the update, you can start it from the Windows Start Menu.
