Updating Box Drive for Windows Users

Box Drive will check for an update and automatically update during each system startup. If you want to update manually, follow these directions.

Windows users will see the following message if there is an update available.

Updating Box

1. Close any files you have open via Box Drive.
2. Locate the Box icon. It is usually located in the hidden icons tray near the date/time. Hover over the icon and make sure it says "Box Drive" and NOT "Box Edit". 
   
    
3. Right-click the Box icon to display a side menu then click the "Update" option.
   
    
4. A new window will now display. Select the "Update Box Drive" option in the new window. 
   
    
5. Box Drive will now begin to update. This does not take very long but the process may not not relaunch Box Drive when complete. You will not see a progress bar.
   • For Windows users, the following message will display if the update is successful.​​​​​​​ 
     
      
6. If Box Drive does not automatically reopen after updating, you can relaunch it from the Start Menu.
