Printer Preferences

Start by going to the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your Mac, then choose System Preferences. Click the Printers & Scanners Button.

Add Printer

Click the plus Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax... button to add a new printer. Make sure you are on the Printer tab, then scroll or search through the list of available printers until you find your print queue. You can also type the queue name in the search box to save time. Once you have found your printer, verify that the correct driver was auto-selected by comparing the listed driver to the model of your printer. When you are done, click Add.

Installable Options

If you added the printer with its model-specified drivers and not the Generic PCL drivers, a window should drop down allowing you to choose from any special features (duplexing, stapling, extra paper trays, etc) your printer has available. If you plan on using any of these features, make sure that you select the appropriate setting to turn the feature on, otherwise, you may not be able to take advantage of your printer's full potential. When you are done, click Continue.

Finish.

Your printer should now be successfully added. If you need to set the printer as your default printer, simply right-click (Ctrl+click) the printer in your list of printers, then choose Set Default Printer. When you are done, you can close the system preferences window and begin printing.

macOS 10.13 and Higher

If your device is running macOS 10.13 or higher the above steps may fail if the printer you are attempting to connect to has a space in the print queue name. For example, if the full name of the printer is "PRINTERS-BSS Modoc 125" you will not be able to connect. 

Resolution

Find the printer you want to add and write down its full name, in this case PRINTERS-BSS Modoc 125
