Camtasia

Create professional videos without having to be a video pro. Easily record your on-screen activity or import HD camera video, customize and edit content, and share your videos with viewers on nearly any device.

SnagIt

Sometimes you need more than words to explain something. SnagIt lets you quickly create videos and images that will change the way you teach others, provide feedback, document, and more.

Installing the Applications

The software is licensed for unlimited installs on faculty/staff machines, and faculty/staff are also allowed to use it on their home machines. The license is not available for student personal use, but can be installed in student computer labs on campus.

Accessing the License Keys

To access the license keys for TechSmith SnagIt and Camtasia, do the following:

  1. Log in to Canvas.
  2. From the global navigation, select Help > Start Search Here.
  3. From the options, select Software Licensing.
  4. From the list of software licenses, select TechSmith SnagIt and Camtasia

Note that our data feed of active faculty and staff is updated near the start of each month, so it may take some time for the license information to appear for you. If you do not see TechSmith SnagIt and Camtasia in the list of licensed software, contact Academic Technology.

Do not provide license keys by email or post them on any publicly available website. 

Installation on Campus Devices

If you are on a campus-owned Mac or PC, Camtasia and Snagit can be installed from the Application Catalog. For instructions on how to install applications from the Windows Software Center or the Mac Self Service app, visit our article on Accessing the Application Catalog.

If prompted for a license key, please try uninstalling and reinstalling the app from the Application Catalog, or use the license key available on Canvas.

Installation on a personal device

If you are an authorized campus user, you can install the software on a personal computer for business use. See the instructions above to obtain the download link and license information.
