Another Campus's Login Page is Displayed When Logging in to CSU Learn

After selecting the wrong campus from the CSU login drop-down, subsequent visits to https://ds.calstate.edu/?svc=sumtotal always redirect you to that other campus’s single-sign-on (SSO) screen. Because Chico State credentials do not work there, you cannot reach CSU Learn or other Chico State services that use this hub.

Environment

This article is relevant to you if:

  • You are a Chico State user (faculty, staff, or student employee) trying to access CSU Learn.
  • You used the Campus drop-down at https://ds.calstate.edu/?svc=sumtotal.
  • You can no longer reach the Chico State login page because the site “remembers” another campus.

Solution

To fix an incorrect campus selection and reach CSU Learn, follow these steps:

  1. Open a private browsing session (pick one):
    • Chrome or Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N (Windows) or ⌘ + Shift + N (macOS).
    • Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P (Windows) or ⌘ + Shift + P (macOS).
  2. Navigate to https://ds.calstate.edu/?svc=sumtotal.
  3. From the Campus drop-down, select Chico.
  4. Select Login.

     If the Chico State SSO page appears, sign in normally. Stop here—your problem is solved.

If you still reach the wrong campus page, do one of the following alternatives, then repeat steps 2-4 above:

  • Use a different browser. Each browser keeps separate cookies, so Firefox, Edge, or Safari will not reuse Chrome’s incorrect campus choice.
  • Clear the site’s data in Chrome/Edge:
    1. Go to https://ds.calstate.edu/?svc=sumtotal.
    2. Select the Site information icon (circle with sliders) left of the address bar.
    3. Choose Site settings → Clear data (or Cookies and site data → Remove).
    4. Reload the page and re-select Chico.

Now you will land on Chico State’s single-sign-on page and can enter your Chico Credentials to reach CSU Learn.

Root Cause

When you first visit the CSU campus-selector page, your choice is stored in a browser cookie. When a non-Chico campus is saved, every later visit silently redirects you to that campus’s SSO screen, preventing authentic Chico State logins.
