Making a Call
Note: When using Teams Phone, you do not need to dial "9" before external phone numbers, as you did previously. The call will still complete if there is a "9" before the rest of the phone number, but it is not necessary.
There are several ways to make calls using Teams Phone: through the Call tab, from the Chat tab, someone's profile, or by using commands.
Use the Call Tab
Click the Calls tab in the Teams sidebar to place calls in a variety of ways:
- Use the dial pad:
- Enter a phone number or start typing a name or group.

- Click Call to begin.
- Note: You do not need to dial "9" before external numbers.
- Call from History:
- Review the History section to see recent calls.
- Hover over a call to see the Call button, or click a call, then click Call in the Details pane.

- Call from Speed Dial:
- Locate the Speed dial section on the right.
- Click Add or the plus icon to add a contact.
- Hover over the contact’s name and click the call icon.

- Call from Voicemail:
- Click Voicemail in the upper-right corner.
- Click More actions next to a message, then Call back.
- Using the Keypad during a call:
- Click the Dial Pad button at the top of the call window to use the dial pad during a call.

Use the Chat Tab
You can start a call directly from a chat.
- Open the chat for the person you want to call.
- In the top right, click the call icon.
- Select either Audio call or Video call.

From Someone's Profile
Call someone directly from their profile details.
- Click the profile picture of the person you want to call.
- When their details page opens, click the Video or Phone icon.

Using the Call Command
- In the Search bar at the top of the Teams screen, type
/call
.

- Hit Enter, then type in the name or number you are trying to call.
- When selected, the call will begin automatically.
Receiving a Call
When someone calls you in Teams, a pop-up notification appears with call options. These will appear differently if it is an Internal vs External call.
Internal Calls
- Click Accept with audio to answer with sound only.
- Click Answer with video to turn on your camera and answer the call.
- Click Decline to reject the call.

External Calls
The caller will have "External" displayed next to their name or number.
- Click Accept with audio to answer with sound only.
- Click Decline to reject the call.
