Kaltura allows video owners to download a copy of their media for offline use, backup, or editing. This process is useful if you need to access the original version of your video or share it outside of Canvas or Kaltura. This article explains how to download a Kaltura video that you own.
Prerequisites
-
You must be the owner of the video in Kaltura
-
The video must be uploaded or published in your My Media
-
Your browser must support pop-ups or downloads
Step-by-Step Instructions
To download a video you own in Kaltura, do the following:
- Open My Media from within Canvas or directly on media.csuchico.edu.
- Locate and select the video you want to download.
- Select Actions, then choose Edit.
- In the player on the edit screen, select the Download icon from the top right corner.
- Choose the video format ("flavor") you want to download. We recommend selecting Source, which is the original file you uploaded.
Now your Kaltura video will begin downloading in your browser in the selected format.
Troubleshooting
- If your video is still processing and the video player doesn't appear, downloading is not yet possible.
- If processing takes longer than 24 hours, contact technical support for assistance.
