PeopleSoft Fluid Navigation

Coming in September 2022, some staff and faculty will see changes to navigation within the PeopleSoft Student interface. This change is limited to PeopleSoft CS only. Human Resources, Student Center, and Faculty Center are not affected.

Within PeopleSoft CS, the navigation menu will be moved. Look for a compass icon in the top right corner of your screen. This updated navigation menu will still include all of the same items as the old menu. In addition, the updated menu can be configured to display items in alphabetical order.

See the video below for visual examples:

Most users will not see these classic pages at all. If you do find yourself stuck in these views, please sign out of PeopleSoft CS, and then use portal.csuchico.edu to find what you're looking for, such as the Student Center, Faculty Center, or HR Self-Service.

September 2022: Known Issues with the Upgrade

Page keeps flashing or reloading. Some users have reported that after logging into HR or CS, their screen keeps flashing (because the browser is repeatedly reloading the page). This can usually be resolved by clearing your browser cache and logging back in. Issue # 14559033.

Navigation menu is not showing personalization (gear icon). The video above shows a gear icon where users are able to opt into alphabetical ordering for the navigation menu. Currently this option is not available in production. Issue # 14559134.

What is this?

In an upcoming upgrade, PeopleSoft is getting a new paint job; an updated look and feel. This upgrade will introduce a different method for navigating PeopleSoft.

This is a change to the homepage/menu/navigation only. Pages won’t look any different, and this does not affect the Self-Service pages like the Student Center and Faculty Center.

Why is this important?

It will work better on a variety of devices. The screen will resize and re-shape for use on phones and tablets.

Oracle’s support for classic navigation is ending.

In the future, navigation can be customized to specific user populations; Homepages and tiles with the pages used by just faculty, or just class maintainers, or just admissions advisors.

What will change?

Main Menu

  • Moves from top left to top right
  • Still has recent places, and favorites
  • Switches from cascading “fly out” style to a sliding stack of panels

Homepage area in middle of the screen (these features will be availible in the future)

  • Can now have multiple home pages
  • Home pages can be filled with “tiles” that contain menu entries (navigation collections)

Changes will occur in September 2022.
