Choose the Right Hosting Option
Some websites fall outside the standard www.csuchico.edu structure managed in Cascade. For these cases, Web Services provides two hosting options for Chico State students, staff, faculty, and campus groups.
- Use YourWeb if you are the sole person managing your website.
- Use Chico State Web Hosting if the site is managed by a department or group.

| YourWeb is a personal web space for students, faculty, and staff. It offers self-service hosting with one-click WordPress installs and full control of content. URLs use a username prefix with yourweb.csuchico.edu. |
Chico State Web Hosting supports university-related sites that need more flexibility than Cascade. It includes WordPress installs and uses custom prefixes with sites.csuchico.edu. |

Create a Chico State Web Hosting Site
Chico State Web Hosting is designed for sites that require flexibility beyond Cascade, such as blogs, research sites, or media-focused content.
- Department blogs
- Research sites
- Media or gallery-focused sites
To request a site, email webservices@csuchico.edu.
If you want a custom domain, you will need to purchase one from a third-party provider.
Review Hosting Costs
The annual hosting fee is $47.85 and includes:
- Web hosting
- Initial configuration
- Branding and accessibility review
Additional support is billed hourly at applicable campus rates. Fees are charged at the end of the fiscal year and are not prorated.
Understand Terms of Use
Chico State Web Hosting is intended for sites that fall outside Cascade usage. It provides flexible hosting with support from Web Services and guidance from University Communications.
The University may monitor hosted sites and disable accounts that violate policies.
Review the Chico Web Hosting User Agreement before proceeding.
