Overview
Smart devices such as game consoles, smart TVs, and media streaming devices must connect to the csuchico wireless network. These types of devices are not compatible with eduroam due to hardware and software limitations.
For eduroam-compatible devices, see Get Connected to WiFi (eduroam).
Device Compatibility
The following devices are compatible with the csuchico network:
- Game Consoles (e.g., Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo)
- Smart TVs
- Media Streaming Devices (e.g., Roku Stick or Amazon FireTV Stick)
- Barcode Scanners
Devices like Alexa, Google Home, or smart plugs may not work because they require your phone and the smart device to be on the same network. Since your phone connects to eduroam and smart devices use csuchico, they won’t be able to communicate.
Connection Steps
- Open the WiFi settings on your smart device.
- Select the csuchico network from the list of available networks.
- The network will automatically detect and allow your device to connect without additional configuration.
Note: You may need to restart your device (power cycle) and attempt to connect 2–3 times before it successfully joins the network.
For additional help, see the Known Issues page.
Troubleshooting
If you're unable to connect your device to the csuchico network, please gather the following information and submit a ticket to IT Support Services:
- Device type (e.g., laptop, smartphone, game console, smart TV)
- MAC address of the device
- Your location (building and room number)
How to find the MAC address:
This can usually be found in the device’s Network Settings under Advanced or About. If you’re unsure, try a quick online search like “find MAC address [device name].”
