Connecting to a Filecabinet File Share

The "filecabinet" is a small network share used to provide functionality that cannot be managed via Box (e.g., Access and FileMaker databases, Quickbooks files). These shares are small (1-5Gb).

You will want to mount this share as a network drive so that you always have access to it.

On a PC

If your department has been provisioned with a new filecabinet network drive, here are the directions for setting up the drive on a PC:

  1. Open a Windows File Explorer window
  2. Right click on “This PC” and click on “Map Network Drive…”
  3. Choose Drive: Y: (or whatever letter you want)
    1. Make sure that everyone who mounts this drive uses the SAME drive letter.
  4. For folder, type in \\filecabinet\pendaflex\YOURFOLDERNAME
    1. Where YOURFOLDERNAME is put the name of the share you requested
  5. Click “Finish”
  6. That’s it!

On a Mac

If your department has been provisioned with a new filecabinet network drive, here are the directions for setting up the drive on a Mac`:

  1. In Finder, click "Go" then "Connect to Server" at the bottom of the list
    1. You can also hit ⌘K to Shortcut
  2. Enter "smb://filecabinet/pendaflex/YOURFOLDERNAME"
    1. Where YOURFOLDERNAME is put the name of the share you requested
  3. Click “Connect”
  4. That’s it!

If that doesn’t work, try contacting ITSS; they might be able to help.
