T-Mobile Data Policy
T-Mobile educational hotspots include unlimited data. However, unlimited data does not mean unlimited high-speed data. When a device uses more than 100 GB in a single billing cycle and connects to a congested cell tower, the speed may slow temporarily to 256 kbps. This slowdown lasts until congestion decreases or the next billing cycle begins.
This temporary reduction helps ensure fair network access for all T-Mobile users.
Intended Use Guidelines
Hotspots are intended to support academic activities such as:
- Online classes and learning
- Research and assignments
- Email, Canvas, and other educational tools
High-Data Activities to Avoid
The following activities may quickly exceed the 100 GB threshold and can lead to throttling:
- Streaming entertainment (e.g., Netflix, YouTube, TikTok)
- Gaming or downloading large applications
- Uploading or syncing large media files
