The instructions below have been copied from the GIS Software and Support page. IT Support Services offers limited support with ArcGIS.

System Requirements

  • ArcGIS Pro runs only on Windows OS.
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 8.0x SDK (x64) must be installed.
    1. Download the installer: Microsoft .NET 8.0x SDK x64
    2. Run the installer.
    3. Verify installation by opening Command Prompt and typing dotnet.

Faculty and Staff Installation

To install ArcGIS Pro on a campus-managed Windows computer:

  1. Click the Windows Start button.
  2. Search for Software Center or Company Portal.
  3. Locate and install ArcGIS Pro 3.5.2.

Student Installation

Students must use the Chico State VPN, GlobalProtect, before downloading ArcGIS Pro. You can install GlobalProtect VPN using the instructions on our Knowledge Base: Get Started! - Global Protect OnDemand VPN

Once connected to GlobalProtect:

  1. Go to ArcGIS Pro Installer Download.
  2. Click Download (under the three dots menu).
  3. Extract the .zip folder.
  4. Install files in this order:
    • ArcGISPro_35_195271.exe
    • ArcGIS_Pro_352_195508.msp

Licensing ArcGIS Pro

  1. Licensing is authenticated through GeoChico Online (Chico State’s ArcGIS Online space).
  2. You must be a member of GeoChico Online. If you are not, email Dr. Dean Fairbanks to request access.
  3. If ArcGIS Pro does not prompt you to sign in, click the Sign In option at the upper-right of the screen.
  4. Follow the licensing guide: ArcGIS Pro Licensing Procedure.
