Introduction
Windows 11 includes a redesigned interface compared to Windows 10, including changes to how you perform basic tasks like logging out. If you're transitioning from an earlier version of Windows, the new layout may cause some initial confusion. This guide will show you how to log out of your user account in Windows 11 and highlight a few ways the process differs from Windows 10.
Goal
This article explains how to log out of a user account in Windows 11. While the process is similar to Windows 10, interface changes—such as the centered Start button and redesigned Start menu—can make it harder to find familiar options. Knowing how to properly log out is important for maintaining session security, especially on shared or public devices. This guide will walk you through two methods to sign out of your Windows 11 session.
Solution / How-to
To log out of your account in Windows 11, do the following:
-
Select the Start icon in the center of the taskbar.
-
In the Start menu, choose your profile icon in the lower-left corner [1].
-
From the menu that appears, select Sign out.
Alternatively, to sign out using a keyboard shortcut:
-
Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete on your keyboard.
-
Select Sign out from the options on-screen.
Once complete, Windows will return to the sign-in screen, and your session will end.
