Benefits of Copying an Existing Project

Using the copy function in TeamDynamix can help expedite the creation of projects that have the same resources, tasks, and other project details. As an example, the PeopleSoft team is responsible for managing the Chancellor's Office Managed Package (MP) updates which occur three to four times a year. In this situation the project lead can create a single project, adding in all of the resources, key stakeholders, plan(s), tasks and key project details and then make a copy of the project for the next MP update. All of the details are retained in the new copy, saving time for the project lead moving forward.

Steps to Copy a Project:

  • Open a project and select the project details section
  • Select actions
  • Select copy
  • Rename your project, update the new start and end dates, and change the status to the desired project status and select save

Once the project is saved, the project lead can go back in and update the other pertinent details of the project without having to start from scratch.
