Overview and Important Information

Emergency services (9-1-1): Avaya Workplace is a softphone and may not provide accurate location information to emergency responders. Do not use this application to place 9-1-1 calls. Use a mobile phone or landline instead.

Avaya Workplace is a software phone (softphone) that allows you to make and receive calls, check voicemail, transfer calls, and join conference calls from your computer or mobile device.

Before installing Avaya Workplace on a personal device:

  • Confirm with your department that your extension and account are ready for use.
  • Calls use data and may consume mobile data. To reduce usage, connect to Wi-Fi whenever possible. The university is not responsible for charges or overages.
  • Use of this application must follow the Policy on Use of Computing and Communications Technology.
  • Installation on a personal device is optional. Personal devices are not formally supported, but Chico State will make a good faith effort to assist.

Install Avaya Workplace on Windows

  1. Go to the Avaya Workplace download page.
  2. Sign in with your Chico State credentials if prompted.
  3. Select Download.
  4. Open your Downloads folder.
  5. Open the Avaya Workplace folder.
  6. Double-click the setup file to begin installation.
  7. Wait for the installation to complete, then open the app.

Install Avaya Workplace on Mac

  1. Go to the Avaya Workplace download page.
  2. Sign in with your Chico State credentials if prompted.
  3. Select Download.
  4. Open Finder and go to Downloads.
  5. Open the Avaya Workplace macOS folder.
  6. Double-click the .DMG file to begin installation.
  7. Wait for the installation to complete, then open the app.

Install Avaya Workplace on iOS

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Search for Avaya Workplace by Avaya, Inc.
  3. Select Get and install the app.
  4. Open the app after installation.
  5. Allow permissions when prompted.

Install Avaya Workplace on Android

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Search for Avaya Workplace by Avaya, Inc.
  3. Select Install.
  4. Open the app after installation.
  5. Allow permissions when prompted.

Configure Avaya Workplace

  1. Open the Avaya Workplace app.
  2. Select Configure my account.
  3. Enter your full Chico State email address.
  4. Select Next and complete the login process.
  5. Review and accept any prompts or disclaimers.
  6. A tutorial may launch the first time you log in.
  7. You can now use Avaya Workplace for calls and voicemail.
