Follow these steps to set up your Chico State loaner laptop from the Center for Tech Equity.
Before you begin: Make sure you have your Chico State username and password, and a smartphone with the Duo Mobile app installed.
Connect to eduroam Wi-Fi on Your Loaner Laptop
- Turn on your Chico State loaner laptop.
- Select which country or region you reside in.
- Select your preferred keyboard layout or input method.
- Choose whether to add or skip the ability to add a second keyboard layout.
- If on campus, select the Eduroam Wi-Fi network.
- When prompted, enter your Chico State email and password.
- If you have issues signing in, try pressing F8 and then selecting the back arrow in the popup window to display wireless networks.
- Right-click Eduroam and then select Forget this Network and try again.
- After signing in, you will be automatically redirected to a setup screen.
Set Up Duo Mobile Using a QR Code

After signing in, a window prompting you to Install Microsoft Authenticator will appear.

Select Set up a different authentication app.

When the setup screen appears, select Next until a QR code is displayed.

- Open the Duo Mobile app on your phone.
- In the Duo Mobile app, tap Add (+).
- Select Use QR Code. Use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code displayed on your laptop.
- You will then be redirected to a screen titled “Set up your account in the app”.
- After scanning the QR code, create a Password when prompted.
- Select Allow if Duo asks for permission to improve your experience.



Finish Setting Up Your Laptop
- After scanning the QR code, follow the prompts in Duo Mobile.
- Create a password if prompted.
- Select Allow if Duo requests permissions.
- Return to the browser window on your laptop and select Next.
- Create a PIN for your device when prompted.
Once these steps are complete, your Chico State loaner laptop will be fully configured and ready to use.
