What is Mendeley?

Some professors require students to use a software called Mendeley Cite. Mendeley Cite from Microsoft AppSource is a brand-new citation tool that is compatible with Microsoft 365 and allows students to seamlessly insert references and bibliographies into their Word documents. Learn more here: https://www.mendeley.com/reference-management/mendeley-cite

For the students using Mendeley Cite with personally licensed Microsoft Office, you should not run into any issues, as long as you are signed in because Chico State does not manage personal licensing.

If you are using campus-licensed Microsoft 365, you may run into issues where you are unable to add the Word add-in because Word is "managed by the institution".

Put in a ticket here before following the steps below: https://support.csuchico.edu/TDClient/1984/Portal/Requests/ServiceDet?ID=8035 Once you put in the request, it can take up to one business day for the Add-in to be reflected on your Microsoft Word.

Installing Microsoft 365

Before beginning with Mendeley Cite, you need to have Microsoft 365 (Microsoft Office) installed. If you are using the free, campus-licensed version, follow our instructions here: https://support.csuchico.edu/TDClient/1984/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=8738

If Office is already installed using these instructions, skip here to enable Mendeley.
