Change Impact

How will you measure the impact of this project?
What are some metrics or KPIs that will be used to measure success? Think about the five metrics to measure: quality, quantity, timeliness, cost, and customer satisfaction.
Reduction in number of questions received and addressed by bookstore staff. Improvements in data quality in Class Schedule.
What are the consequences of not doing this project?
For example: direct significant negative consequences to the University, unable to conduct basic services; failure to resolve customer complaints or requests; loss of opportunity for improved service delivery or efficiency. Please explain.
Loss of opportunity to improve support for zero cost course materials and non-compliance with HEOA.

Federal requirement (HEOA).
Success Criteria/Requirements
What constitutes project success (e.g. requirements, key goals, features, functions, capabilities, etc.)?
1. ZCCM and NT Designations
If a class is designated as ZCCM or NT, can we remove the message that appears next to “Special Instructions”? The message above the icon—“No textbooks required for this class”, is perfect and sufficient. However, the message next to “Special Instructions” currently reads:
“This class has course material options not reflected here. For more details on these options please see the Chico State Wildcat Store.”
This is misleading for ZCCM/NT courses.

Below is what students see when they click “View Course Materials” for these classes.

2. OER and NSM Designations
Would it be possible to add a second message to the Message Catalog? If so, we’d like to display a separate message specifically for courses designated as OER or NSM. We can provide the exact wording, just wanted to confirm if this is feasible on your end.

3. Section Notes Loading Order
Holly also suggested that it might be best to have the system load section notes (column 8) first, exclude ZCCM-designated courses, and then apply the generic course material message only to the appropriate remaining classes.
Let us know what’s possible.
Project Urgency
Indicate if there is a mandate or requirement driving this request.
Mandated by Federal Law, State Law, or Executive Order

New features in an existing system, moderate breadth/depth

Description

I'd like to make some improvements to the Textbook Load process. We currently use the CO provided process which has not been updated to accommodate the OER and NSM statuses. The CSU bookstore's textbook data is sent through the CO process and then into PeopleSoft. Below is a summary of what I would like to do:

1. Add Follett Section Notes (Field 8) to PS Course Material Notes or Special Instructions (still figuring out the best place).
2. Add logic to use more messages from the message catalog. The current process only has one message option, but we would like additional message options so that user-facing messages can be more specific. This would support better UX and easier troubleshooting.
3. Find a new way to accommodate OER and NSM Textbook Assignment Statuses that the CO has never updated their process to deal with.
