User Information

You can find your account information in Account Center. It should appear on a screen that looks like the image below:

Account Center with blank information

In the User Information section, you'll notice that a lot of the fields are grey and uneditable. Most of the information in these boxes is based on when you applied to Chico State as a student or filed paperwork with Human Resources to begin a job. To update this information, you will have to reach out to the responsible department.

The one editable field in this section is the Door Access PIN. This PIN is used, along with your Chico State ID Card, to access buildings after hours or when the doors are locked. The PIN is initially randomly assigned, but you can change it at any time. If you choose to change your PIN, please wait 24 hours before trying to use the new PIN.

Display Name

While the section mentioned above displays your legal name, you can update your display name in Account Center if you would like to be known to coworkers or classmates by another name. (ex: Samantha, but you prefer Sam). You can find information on our Knowledge Base for Updating your Display Name.

Your display name will take about 24 hours to update but should be reflected in Canvas, Outlook, TeamDynamix, Google, Adobe, Box, and Duo.

Note: Updating your Display Name does not update your username. If you would like to update your Chico State username to reflect a name change, please complete a Username Change.

Password Recovery and Chico State Alerts

This information will not only be available to you to use if you need to reset your Chico State password but will also be used to contact you and send alerts in the event of an on-campus emergency.
