Requirements

System Requirements

  • Hardware Requirements
    • Size: 20 MB
  • Software Requirements
    • iPhone, iPad, & iPod touch: Requires iOS 13 or later
    • Must be signed into an active Apple account

Account Requirements

  • Current Faculty & Staff should meet the requirements by default.
  • Volunteers and Consultants will need to have their department sponsor request access by completing the Volunteer, Guest, and Consultant Access form.
  • Students can access the OnDemand VPN but are not automatically granted access
    • If you have a course that requires a VPN connection, you will be granted rights based on course enrollment, no additional steps are required
    • If you would like to opt in for access to the OnDemand VPN, please complete the Student Opt-In VPN access form

Installing and Configuring

Installing GlobalProtect

  1. Navigate to the App Store on your iOS Device. Search for GlobalProtect. You will install the one shown below; an image of a globe with a check box.

  2. Your device will probably ask to confirm the installation, either by Face ID, Passcode, or Password. GlobalProtect should now begin installing.

Configuring GlobalProtect

  1. Now that it is installed, open the GlobalProtect app. It will prompt for a Portal Address. This may change depending on the device type.

    • For campus-managed iOS devices, enter ao-vpn.csuchico.edu

    • For personal iOS devices, enter vpn.csuchico.edu

  2. A pop-up will appear asking you to Add VPN Configurations. Make sure to click "Allow", or the VPN will not work.

     

  3. After allowing the VPN configurations, you will need to sign in using your Chico State username and password. You will also need to verify the sign-in using Duo Mobile.

Uninstalling GlobalProtect

To delete GlobalProtect from your iOS device, tap and hold on the GlobalProtect app. Click the Remove App icon and Delete App to confirm its removal.
