Publishing Guide in Cascade 3.0

 This article applies to sites using Cascade 3.0 (old templates).

Publish to the Live Site

Your page is ready to publish when edits are complete and meet accessibility and web writing standards.

If you are not ready to publish, preview your changes using the development site or Full Screen Preview.

Publish a Page

  1. Complete all edits on the page.
  2. Select Submit and enter a descriptive comment.
  3. Select Publish.
  4. Expand View Publish Settings and confirm all destinations are selected.
  5. Select Publish again to complete the process.

Changes may take a few minutes to appear on the live site.

Troubleshoot Missing Updates

  • If updates are not visible, clear your browser cache or perform a hard refresh (Windows: Ctrl + F5, Mac: Command + Shift + R).
  • You can also open the page in a different browser.

Use Full Screen Preview

  1. Open the page in Cascade.
  2. Select More.
  3. Select Full Screen Preview.

This preview is only visible to you and cannot be shared.

Publish to the Development Site

The development site allows you to preview and share changes before publishing to the live site.

  • Preview the page with full site styling
  • Share changes with your team before publishing

Access to the development site requires a connection to the GlobalProtect VPN
.

Publish to the Development Site

  1. Select Submit after editing your page.
  2. Select Publish.
  3. Expand View Publish Settings.
  4. Select only the wwwdev destination.
  5. Select Publish.

To view the development page, update the URL:

Example: wwwdev.csuchico.edu/sitefolder

You can share this link with others who are connected to the VPN.

Disable Publishing

Pages may be published automatically during site-wide publishing. Disable publishing if your page is not ready.

Disable Publishing for a Page

  1. Right-click the page and select Edit.
  2. Select Configure.
  3. Uncheck Include when publishing.
  4. Select Save.

The page will not publish until this setting is re-enabled.
