Softdocs - Etrieve Content Frequently Asked Questions

Etrieve Content is the Softdocs application that provides users with access to a centralized repository of documents, recordings, images, etc. and provides advanced search capabilities through Keywords, and features document handling capabilities such as uploading, adding pages, splitting pages, annotating, emailing/sharing, and so on.

1. How do I log onto Etrieve Content?

a. Please follow this link: Softdocs Login Page to access Etrieve Content.

2. Who has access to Etrieve Content?

a. Chico State Employees, Students, and Auxiliary Employees are provided access to Softdocs Etrieve Central however you will only see those documents your department owns or your own records which have been shared with you through "My Documents".

3. How do I search for specific documents?

a. Follow the navigation panel to the far left side of the webpage. From there, select the sidebar (may be collapsed).

The Tree will have numerous search fields that will allow you to locate documents.

4. How do I navigate the Tree?

a. The Tree is broken down into up to 5 collapsed areas that refine search criteria for specific documents, broken down by Document Type. Additional information can be found in the Tree section found in the Etrieve Content User Guide - 2024 .

5. Is there a way to share documents directly from Etrieve?

a. Yes, you can share documents with users by selecting the Share icon within the Document Viewer. You are able to share documents through email, or direct links. Additional information can be found in the Toolbar section found in the Etrieve Content User Guide - 2024.

Please Note: Sharing documents through Etrieve Content is only accessible to users with the appropriate permissions to do so. If someone wishes to share documents through Etrieve Content and does not have the appropriate permissions, they must discuss this with their supervisor.

6. I need to add a supporting document into Etrieve. How do I do that?
