Canvas includes built-in support resources to help you find answers quickly or connect with support teams. Whether you’re a student or faculty member, you can access self-service articles, live chat, and Chico State-specific resources directly through the Canvas interface.
Accessing Help
To access help and support resources within Canvas, follow these steps:
- In the Canvas interface, select Help from the global navigation menu on the left.
- Select Start Search Here to open our support center where you can search for articles related to your issue, contact our support teams, and find context-aware help.

- Type your question or keywords related to your problem in the search box to find relevant help guides.
- If you cannot find an answer to your question in the knowledge base, scroll down and select one of the support options provided at the bottom of the page for further assistance.
- For immediate help, you can either select Help > Chat with Canvas Support from the global navigation menu or call the 24/7 Canvas Support Hotline at 530-230-0546.
Available Support
You can also access other help in Canvas. From the Help menu, you have access to:
- Center for Technology Equity: Chico State's experts in technology training. Available for students, faculty, and staff.
- Chat with Canvas Support: Chat with a live support person from Canvas 24/7 and get immediate help for your Canvas problems. Available for students, faculty, and staff.
- Technology & Learning Program: Chico State's instructional designers and faculty support team. Only available for faculty.
- Campus Safety: Access vital campus safety resources from Chico State, including services to support your health, well-being, and rights.
- Canvas Community: Access to the global community of Canvas users with creative solutions to common and not-so-common issues. Available for students, faculty, and staff.
- Report a Problem: Report a bug or other problem with Canvas directly to their support team. Available for students, faculty, and staff.
- Submit a Feature Idea: Have an idea to improve Canvas? Submit it to the Canvas Community. Available for students, faculty, and staff.
