Start a chat with Zoom users in the desktop client

Zoom Team Chat allows Chico State users to send direct messages to colleagues across the entire California State University system without scheduling a meeting. This is useful for quick questions, sharing files, or coordinating with others in real time. This guide walks through how to start a new one-on-one chat in Zoom Team Chat.

Prerequisites

Start a New Chat

To start a new chat with another user in Zoom Team Chat, do the following:

  1. From the left sidebar, select the Team Chat tab, then select the blue + button and choose Message.

  2. In the To field, enter the full email address of the person you want to message.

  3. Type your message in the compose box, then select Start Chat.

Troubleshooting

If you are unable to find a contact by email address, verify that the recipient has an active Zoom account within the California State University system. For further assistance, open a ticket and we will do our best to help you.
