Fixing the Box Edit “Unable to Save” Error

Box Edit (also known as Box Tools) allows you to open and edit files stored in Box directly from a web browser using applications installed on your computer.

The “Unable to Save” error typically occurs when a file is opened using Box Edit and then deleted or moved within Box. When this happens, Box Edit can no longer sync the file back to Box. If the issue is not corrected, Box Edit may continue creating duplicate copies of the file and saving them to your desktop.

Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

  1. Close the affected file.
  2. In the Windows search bar, type or copy and paste %localappdata%\Box\Box Edit and press Enter.
