Resetting Passwords for Generic, Admin, or Service Accounts

Overview

Generic, admin, or service accounts (e.g., username-admin or itss-teamdynamix-svc) are often used for elevated or automated processes. If you need to reset the password for one of these accounts, the process differs depending on whether the current password is still valid.

If Password Is Known

If the generic or service account password is still valid or has not yet expired, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Generic Account Self Service page.
  2. Authenticate using your personal Chico State credentials.
  3. Enter the generic account username and its current password.

  4. Enter the new password for the generic account.
  5. Re-enter the new password to confirm.
  6. Click Submit.

If Password Is Unknown or Expired

If the generic account password has expired or unknown:

  1. Submit a ticket to ITSS requesting a password reset for the generic account.
  2. Register for MOVEit to securely receive the temporary password provided by ITSS.
