Use the Avaya J-Series Quick Reference Guide

The Quick Reference Guide includes:

Identify Buttons and Features on Your Avaya Desk Phone

This section explains the physical buttons, indicators, and keys on the Avaya J-Series handset.

  1. Message Lamp/Ringing Indicator: A steady light indicates new voicemail messages. A flashing light indicates an incoming call.
  2. Display: Shows call information, feature details, and call appearance keys.
  3. Call Appearance: Indicates which line is currently in use.
  4. Softkeys: Select the option shown on the screen above each key. These options change depending on whether the phone is idle, ringing, or on a call.
  5. Navigation Keys: Scroll through call appearances, menus, call logs, and speed dial lists.
  6. Phone: Returns the display to the main phone screen or exits a menu.
  7. Navigation Keys: Scroll through call appearances, menus, call logs, and speed dial lists.
  8. Main Menu: Opens phone options and settings.
  9. Contacts: Opens personal and shared directories.
  10. Recents: Opens recent answered, missed, and outgoing calls. This button also lights up when you have a missed call.
  11. Message: Opens voicemail.
  12. Headset: Switches calls to a connected headset. The button lights up when the headset is active.
  13. Speaker: Lets you make or answer calls without lifting the handset. The button lights up when speakerphone is active.
  14. Volume: Adjusts the ringer, speaker, and handset or headset volume.
  15. Mute: Turns the microphone off or on during a call. The button lights up when mute is on.
