Box Account Eligibility
Box accounts are available to many Chico State employees and affiliates. Use the table below to determine whether your account is automatically provisioned, can be requested, or is not eligible for Box access.

Box accounts are created during the nightly provisioning process after employment records are updated in PeopleSoft. Box access is removed automatically when employment or the qualifying affiliation ends.
* Some students enrolled in approved courses may receive temporary Box access for course-related activities.
Sign In to Box
You can access Box by visiting csuchico.app.box.com or by selecting Box from the Chico State Portal.
- Enter your Chico State email address, username@csuchico.edu.
- Complete the Chico State sign-in process.
- Approve the Duo prompt when prompted.
Install Box Applications
Box applications provide additional ways to access and work with files stored in Box.
- Box Drive: Access Box files directly from your computer.
- Box Edit: Open and edit Box files in desktop applications such as Word and Excel.
- Box for Office: Save and access Box files from Microsoft Office applications. Box for Office is available for Windows only.
Install Box Applications on a Campus-Owned Windows Computer
- Open the Application Catalog (Software Center, Company Portal, or Self Service).
- Search for Box.
- Install the desired Box applications.
- Restart your computer after installation.
Install Box Applications on a Personal Device
Download Box applications directly from the Box Downloads website.
Resolve Common Access Problems
If you receive an invalid login error:
- Confirm you are eligible for a Box account.
- Verify that you are using your full Chico State email address.
- New employee accounts may take until the next day to become available.
If access problems continue, contact IT Support Services to verify your Microsoft 365 account status, Box account status, and account affiliations.
