Install requirements and what you need

To use Poll Everywhere with PowerPoint on Windows, you will need:

  • A Windows computer with Microsoft PowerPoint installed
  • A Poll Everywhere account connected to your Chico State single sign-on (SSO)
  • Reliable internet access in your classroom or presentation space
  • The Poll Everywhere Presenter App for Windows

Optional (for IT staff): Use the MSI installer from the Poll Everywhere Enterprise Install Guide for managed deployments.

Install the Poll Everywhere Presenter App on Windows

To install the Poll Everywhere Presenter App:

  1. Go to the Poll Everywhere download page
  2. Select Download for Windows
  3. Open the downloaded file (for example, polleverywhere.exe)
  4. Launch Poll Everywhere from your desktop or Start menu
  5. Sign in using your Chico State SSO credentials

Add Poll Everywhere activities to PowerPoint slides

To insert activities into your presentation:

  1. Open PowerPoint
  2. Select the Poll Everywhere tab in the ribbon
  3. Select Log In if prompted and sign in with SSO
  4. Select Insert > Activity
  5. Choose an existing activity or create a new one
  6. Select Insert Activity
  7. (Optional) Add an Instructions Slide so students know how to respond

Note: Poll slides appear as placeholders while editing. They become interactive during slideshow mode.

Present Poll Everywhere activities during class

To present your polls live:

  1. Make sure Poll Everywhere is installed and signed in on the presentation computer
  2. Open your PowerPoint file
  3. Start the presentation using Slide Show > From Beginning (or press F5)
  4. Navigate to a Poll Everywhere slide to display live responses

Fix common issues when Poll Everywhere is not working

Before class, check:

  • The Poll Everywhere app is installed on the presentation computer
  • You are signed in with your SSO account
  • If prompted in PowerPoint, select Enable Content

If activities are not interactive:

  • This is expected in edit mode
  • Start slideshow mode to activate polls

If polls do not load:

  • Make sure the Presenter App is running in the background
  • Confirm you are signed in to the correct account
