Deprovisioning Information

When users leave the university, accounts are first disabled and then deleted. Below are some common questions and answers regarding the process.

Why are accounts removed?

Accounts may be removed for several reasons:

  • Our software licenses require that only individuals with a university affiliation maintain their accounts.
  • Inactive accounts can pose security risks.

Who is affected by deprovisioned accounts?

Accounts are deprovisioned for all individuals who leave the university, including faculty, staff, students, auxiliary employees, and other users such as volunteers and consultants. Deprovisioning may look different depending on the type of account you have.

How can I get transcripts if my account is deprovisioned?

For former students, your Chico State email, Canvas account, and Google account are unavailable, but your Portal and Student Center are still available. The Student Center will allow you access to downloading your unofficial transcript, ordering official transcripts, and gathering financial aid information.

Your Chico State username and password will still work, but will still follow some of the same rules as active accounts. Your password will still expire once per year and can be reset in Account Center

How can I keep my accounts after separating from Chico State?

Except for faculty emeritus, retired faculty, and retired staff, there is no option to keep your account after separation.
