Username Generation in Account Center

Account Center generates usernames from the preferred name or legal name supplied by PeopleSoft.  Usernames for employees, auxiliaries, and students are derived from the first letter of the first name + middle initial (if applicable) + full last name and a numeric value if the username is not unique.  This process is automated through the Account Center, therefore campus users can't request a custom username.

Username Changes:

You can request a username change through IT Support Services (ITSS). ITSS will check to see if the new name has been updated in the Account Center and will initiate the process for the username change. For instance, if John Robert Doe (jrdoe) changes his legal name with Human Resources to John Robert Smith and requests a username change, his new username will be jrsmith98.

Campus users can request a username change here.  Before you fill out the username change ticket request, your Peoplesoft must be updated with your preferred or legal name. Users who were or are current students need to go to the Registrar's Office. For all other non-student users, you will need to contact Human Resources (employees)
