Setting Defaults on a PC

These instructions are specifically for the Ray Morgan MFPs, but most other color print devices have similar settings in these same locations, so this guide can be used for those as well. These settings can be overridden within certain programs, so if items are still printing in color after making these changes take a look at the color print settings in the program you are using.

  1. Go to the search box next to the start menu button, type in "Control Panel", and then click the Control Panel item when it appears
  2. Click either "View devices and printers" or "Devices and Printers"
    • This will go to the same place, but some computers have slightly different menus
  3. Find the printer you want to change the defaults for, right-click on it, and then click "Printing preferences"
  4. At the bottom of the window that appears is the color mode default. From here you can select "Black and White". Next click 'Apply' and then 'OK' and your default will be changed

Setting Defaults on a Mac

If you want your Mac to print in Black and White (B/W) by default to MFPs, you will need to configure a preset. You can create this from any program that you can print from, but Chrome is the easiest way to do so.

Once the preset is in place you only need to select that preset and then your settings (B/W default) will apply to your print jobs. If you cannot find the settings you are looking for and you've confirmed you have installed the correct driver, please submit a ticket so that we may assist.

  1. In Chrome, hit Command + P to get to the print menu. Scroll to the bottom to find the option for "Print Using System Dialogue". You may have to click "More Options" first
  2. In the Print Menu, scroll to "Printer Options" then click the information icon next to "Quality"

  3. From "Color Mode" you can select either Color or Black and White printing
  4. After you hit OK, you'll be taken back to the Print Menu. At the top of the menu under "Presets" change the dropdown to "Save current settings as Preset"
  5. Name this preset and hit OK to save it
